Preparing for a big day? Of all the preparation you can do for an event, shedding extra pounds is the most challenging. It requires a lot of discipline and lifestyle changes. If I would choose between accommodating not-so-nice in-laws and weight loss, I might rather choose the former. But that’s not more rewarding than being physically healthy. Imagining how to lose 40 pounds in 2 months is daunting let alone the idea of starting it.
The good news is that you don’t have to fret much about starting as you can use these tips listed here. Here are some that I find effective in losing 40 pounds:
1. Focus on your health
Never resort to desperate diet fads that will ask you to starve yourself for the whole day. There are many available meal plans like keto and vegan that you can discover without depriving yourself of food. Remember that even though you’re trying to lose extra pounds, you have to get the right nutrients for your body to keep going.
If you need a weight loss coach to guide you, do so. You might get substantial losses from crash diets but it won’t be for long. The worst part is you’ll have health issues in the future.
2. Create a weight loss plan
Of course, you don’t embark on a journey without a detailed map and a compass. You should have a clear plan for your weight loss goal. This should include how much calories you should cut a day to get into the quota. To burn a pound of fat, you have to cut 3,500 calories but this cut will decrease if you’ll exercise well.
How to lose 40 pounds in 2 months? Never metal count calories because I guarantee you that it will lead you nowhere. Jot it down in a journal, pin on a corkboard, or whatever way you find effective.
3. Start walking
Your transition exercise shouldn’t be strenuous. Since you’re carrying extra 40 pounds, you need to start by walking. This is so your knees won’t be stressed too much and your body won’t be shocked from turning into active from a possibly sedentary lifestyle.
If you walk at least an hour, you’ll burn at least 310 calories a day. This is a big cut in your weight and if you do this regularly, you can probably start switching to heavier workout to fasten up weight loss.
4. Choose the comfiest place
Finding your comfort place is important so you won’t increase stress levels. Cortisol, the stress hormone, will likely push you to eat more to ease the raging hormone. Also, a stress-free environment will inspire you to stick to the plan. I suggest that you surround yourself with like-minded people so you won’t feel alone on your journey.
If you want to hit the gym, you can choose one with a friendly and knowledgeable coach. Such thing is motivating if you’re losing 40 pounds.
5. Drink water, lots of ‘em
Water increases your resting calorie burn so I suggest that you make the most out of this opportunity. Drink at least eight glasses of water a day but not in one sitting. Distribute it throughout the day and if you tend to forget, you can use a water schedule app. These are free and really helpful if you’re planning how to lose 40 pounds in 2 months.
You should sweat the water out if you want to burn more fats. Gulp water as if it’s a tasty juice. But if you find it too bland, you can rest with a cup of green tea.
6. Know the rules of cheat days
If you were to ask me, I would suggest that you ditch cheat days. It’s a gateway to a distracted weight loss plan. However, I want to give a little “beginner’s freedom” here. Some experts suggest the 90/10 rule in meals so you won’t crumble in the absence of your favorites.
With this, you should eat 90% healthy food and 10% cheat food. Indulge in the 10% pizza, bacon, burger, or whatever you like. Just remember that this is more of a cheat meal than a cheat day.
7. Stop being a night owl
Lack of sleep acts like a fat-churning monster in your body. It increases cortisol levels that will likely increase your food intake. Sleep deprivation will also make you feel lethargic about your weight loss routines.
Sleep for at least seven hours. This should be quality shuteye; otherwise, it will be no different from not sleeping at all. It’s best to sleep with the lights off to stimulate the secretion of melatonin.
8. How to lose 40 pounds in 2 months? Identify habits you have to change
The hardest thing to do is changing old habits. But it doesn’t mean that you won’t be making it. List down your habits that you think won’t contribute to the plan. Do you love streaming movies until midnight? Are you a distracted eater? These simple details will definitely make a difference in your weight loss.
You don’t have to place your lifestyle in a 360-degree turn. Take everything at a slow pace until you’re ready to switch big time.
9. Don’t obsess about the scale
You already know that you need to lose 40 pounds and there’s no need to shove it down your throat by checking the scale. Sure, you’ll need this in the future, but if you’re starting out, I advise that you give it a break. For your first week, check about thrice a week then daily when your plan is on full blast.
10. Get yourself in a weight loss club
Joining a weight loss club will add up to the “loyalty factor” on the weight loss plan. Here, you can get free tips on how to succeed on your target not to mention the friends you’re going to make. But if you’re more of an introvert, this won’t be a requirement.
Knowing how to lose 40 pounds in 2 months isn’t easy if you don’t know where and when to begin. But with these simple tips, I’m sure that you’ll find it a bit easier this time. Do you think so? Tell us your comments!
